Health and Wellness Focused Design
Since the coronavirus pandemic, many buildings have had to implement federal, state, or city safety protocols, including access to hand sanitizer, plexiglass partitions, and touchless access systems. Tenants have shown increased interest in managing occupant health and wellness beyond antiviral and antimicrobial protocols by taking a more thorough look at how design can positively impact human health.
This includes thoughtful design around advanced air filtration and ventilation, light and daylighting strategies, thermal comfort, water quality, biophilia, and environmental psychology.
New projects should pursue human health focused certifications such as WELL and FitWel to inform design and provide validation to the consumer that the space has been designed to optimize human health.
